Simmons Bayou, back in the day! Early humans populated Simmons Bayou about 12,000 years ago. Prehistoric Florida possessed an immense population of large food sources, back then mastodons roamed the earth. But the locals, paleoindians preferred hunting squirrels and wild boar. Less risky for sure but their diet also existed of gathered fruits, nuts, shrimps, and oysters. Pretty much what I eat today, plus an occasional pizza. Over the centuries, the locals invented the low country boil, Bar-B-Cue, beer, and the RV Resort. Then eventually they opened up a few restaurants, built a golf course, and as you well know, the rest is history.
